Academics

Joining a sorority in college is a life-changing experience, but garnering an education is the top priority for Kappa. This is why each chapter is expected to maintain academic standards equal to or higher than their university’s or college’s all-sorority GPA. Additionally, each chapter establishes a GPA requirement for active members.

If a Kappa struggles academically, we help her through it. The Academic Excellence Team meets with her to craft an improvement plan using study tactics and time management. We want each sister to leave college with what they came for: a degree.

Academic excellence is at the cornerstone of Kappa Kappa Gamma values. The fraternity places high emphasis on intellectual development, as our members are students first. Eta Nu provides support in many ways for our members, but helping our women reach and maintain their academic goals are top priorities.

Our Vice President of Academic Excellence and her committee promote scholarship in a variety of ways in order to best serve the needs of the entire chapter. Every week, Sunday through Thursday, the AE committee provides members with a study room in the library. The study rooms offer members a quiet space to get work done individually or collaborate with other members in the same class. Additionally, every chapter we have “hoots and salutes” in order to recognize members for their academic and career-oriented accomplishments. This constructively acknowledges members for their hard work and can inspire other women.

Eta Nu currently has a cumulative GPA average of 3.45 based on fall quarter grades. We have been ranked #1 for the past 6 quarters in a row out of all the sororities on campus for our academics and are honored to receive the Scholarship Award this past year at the Greek Awards Ceremony. We have continued to maintain a strong cumulative GPA over the years. With the guidance of our VP-AE and her committee, academic success will continue to grow.
